UN Recognition

Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) was given the status of Special Consultative NGO by the United Nations.

A United Nations Mission to India headed by Ms. Hanifa Mezoui, Chief / NGO Section/ DESA and supported by Ms. Meena Sur, Programme Officer/NGO Section/ DESA visited RMP's Knowledge-Excellence Centre (KEC) at Uttan, Bhayander on Saturday, August 19,2006. Dr. Medha Nanivadekar, member of RMP's Management Committee accompanied the visitng guests. Mr. Arvid Rege, senior member of RMP's management committee, Mr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe (Director General) and Mr. Ravindra Sathe (Executive Director) received the visiting dignitaries on the campus. Later, both the guests took a round in the campus and observed the training facilities provided. They also interacted with senior officials of he RMP and other associates including Mr. Neelesh Kulkarni. A film on the Universal Brotherhood Programme conducted last year, was presented before the guests. Finally the guests were felicitated at the hands of Mr. Rege. Ms. Mezoui appreciated the work of RMP and hoped that greater interaction of RMP with the UN system will further expand its horizons. At the end, Ms. Mezoui presented a memento in the form of a UN Flag to Mr. Rege as a mark of RMP's new status as a Special Consultative NGO with the UN.
