National Arya Chanakya Essay Competition - Top 3 Award Entries
Anushka Jain, Kothrud, Pune
While preparing for the essay competition on "Chanakya as a management guru", I studied several of his axioms from Arthashastra and Neetishastra. During the intensive research, the purpose of learning evolved into the process of self-introspection. His life journey, from a common Brahmin to the minister of court has been truly inspiring. Some of the events of his life and some of his teachings had a profound impact over my perception towards things. Chanakya, one of the greatest war diplomat of his time took advice from a woman by eavesdropping in her hut while she was commenting about what strategy should Chanakya use to annex the kingdom. What I learned from this popular incident is, "Take harmless and helpful knowledge and ideas from wherever you receive it. Don't let ego come in between." This is something I've tried to do myself in various scenarios. As a knowledge seeker, I am ever eager to learn new things irrespective of the source, given its reliable. As I'm preparing for a competitive exam, I'm posed with challenges everyday. It's not a news that students pursuing such exams end up feeling despondent. One of the Chanakya's saying keeps me motivated through such phases, "Once you start working on something, don't be afraid of failures and don't abandon it. People who work sincerely are the happiest." His wise words work their magic on me leaving me more confident and motivated. Winning this National Level competition was something which came up as a sweet surprise, as a revelation of my potential. Getting felicitated by Honorable Amit Shah ji and CM Devendra Fadnavis ji has been one of the most vividly memorable moment of my life so far. I felt honored and recognized. My family and friends feel proud of me for this achievement. I would like to pay my sincere gratitude to Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini for giving me this opportunity to realize my potential. Earning the pivotal position among over 3000 candidates was truly gratifying. The felicitation ceremony organised in Ganesh Kala Krida Manch was well organized and well conducted. It was a commendable initiative by RMP to organize an essay competition on "Life and Times of Arya Chanakya". This has been a motivation for youth to know more about Chanakya.
