Arya Chanakya Essay Competition

Kautilya as we are aware, is one of the very few personalities who is respected and revered for his intellectual capabilities not only by Indian but also the western Scholars. He was well versed in commerce, warfare, Politics, Economics and Vedas. Kautilya is credited for writing few impressive works. Arthāŝastra and Neetishastra which is also known as Chanakya Niti are two of the seminal works of Kautilya. He had a grand vision of building an empire encompassing the whole of Indian-subcontinent, prosperous (freedom from wants), secure against foreign threats, crime-free (freedom from fear), internally stable, and based on secular virtues. Additionally, Kautilya’s Arthashastra has emerged as a manual on promoting Yogakshema - the peaceful enjoyment of prosperity- of all the people.

 

In order to engage the youngsters with Kautilya’s thoughts and philosophy, RMP has decided to introduce an “ESSAY COMPETITION”.

“Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini invites youngsters between the age group 14-30 to come forward and participate in this competition”

Essay Competition Themes:

  • Chanakya on the concept of Nation-building
  • Chanakya as a management guru
  • Chanakya and his concept of Yogakshema (Concept of Public Welfare)

*The essay could be in Marathi, Hindi or English.

About Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini

Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP), established in 1982, is a unique training and research academy, primarily aimed at enhancing the capabilities of voluntary activists and elected representatives. RMP was set up as a memorial of late Sh. Rambhau Mhalgi who was a member of Lok Sabha in 1977 and 1980 and was a strong votary of the philosophy that Elected Representatives of the country should regularly undergo training and capacity building in order to strengthen the democracy and its processes.

Who can participate?

Youngsters within the age group of between 14-30 can apply.

Submission Procedure:

Note:

  • There is no registration fee for submitting the entries.
  • One author may submit one essay only.
  • Submission Deadline: 30th June 2018

Format:

  • 1000-2000 words
  • Essay language could be in Marathi/ Hindi or English
  • Font should be Times New Roman with font Size 12.
  • 1.5 interlinear space.
  • Participants may use any recognized style of referencing system and this must be consistently used throughout the Essay.
  • The list of references shall include all cited texts throughout the Essay.

Scoring of the Essay:

While assessing the documents the weightage would be given as below:

  • Originality and clarity of the content
  • Quality of the analysis and research
  • Language and Structure of the essay
  • Grammar, syntax and form
  • The quality of language will not be a decisive factor, as long as the text retains its clarity, originality, and coherence.

18 selected entries would be recognized during the 8th July programme.

Please note that winners will have to travel to Pune on their own to receive the cash prize and the certificate. Those winners who are unable receive it during the programme would be sent the prize money and certificate through courier.
