CENTRE FOR INSTITUTION BUILDING AND LEADERSHIP STUDIES (CIBLS)RMP has taken another initiative in its forte of training, by launching its wing for institutional training. RMP has been conducting training programmes for people at various levels in the educational hierarchy, from school/college teachers and professors to principals, trustees and university senate members. These programmes are conducted, taking into account the special requirements of the education sector. CIBLS also functions for the training of the office bearers and staff of the co-operative banks. Background In the past few years, the effect and impact of globalisation has been felt, not only in areas like trade, business, entertainment and media, but also in the field of education. There are rapid cultural and economic changes taking place. To remain ahead in this race in the age of competition, the educational system in the country has to absorb the changes and modify itself accordingly. Commercialisation of education is also forcing changes in this field. While, in case of some institutes, a basic level of quality needs to be achieved, in case of the higher centres of learning, both domestic and foreign institutes, one has to ensure a holistic approach to education that leads to the development of the body, mind and soul. RMP aims to meet the training needs of teachers, professors, principals and trustees in areas of quality and holistic education. The people, who run schools and colleges with a certain set of values and are conscious of their social obligation, are naturally required to involve themselves in effective institute building activity. However, many times the environment is not conducive enough or the concerned people lack the knowledge and vision necessary for this purpose. RMP aims to develop and enhance this aspect through the medium of such training courses. Organisational skills, leadership qualities and institute building abilities are an integral part of management science. Utilising this management know-how, along with necessary practical considerations would help quality enhancement in the field of education. We at RMP are giving a serious thought to the subject. The combination of management science and the ground realities would then strengthen the educational institutes. Institutes are run with the participation of four components that operate at different levels:
People at all these levels are affected to different extent by the changes taking place in the educational environment. The ever increasing administrative expenses, coupled with the changes in financial aid from the government and high expectations regarding quality in education, are making the task difficult. RMP has designed its training modules for educators, taking into account the difficulties they are likely to face. RMP proposes to organise various activities for the four components of any educational institution, through the medium of training courses. It would be our aim and endeavor to induce active participation and positive work culture, rather than mechanical and dull assembly line output. We also endeavour to bring idealism in education, develop leadership qualities and generate a feeling among the participants that their institute belongs to them.. Nature of training The nature of the syllabus of RMP's training courses is such that:
In order to develop a modern outlook among the participants, the training courses would deal with subjects like the changing nature of school and college administration, the various roles that different components are expected to play, various projects that an institute should undertake, effective application of IT and making the courses contemporary and result-driven.. Our training courses also ensure:
Typically our educational training courses are spread over one or two days. Topics chosen for training would be keeping in view the needs of the institute. Moreover, the sylvan surroundings of the RMP in the lap of nature at Keshav Srushti, gives the perfect and healthy ambience for imparting knowledge. Our amphitheatre and Yoga centre further enhance the atmosphere. The training programs can also be arranged at any other venue that is convenient to the participants, if required. CO-OPERATIVE BANKING TRAINING CENTREAn Integrated Approach for Development of Co-operatives: RMP is now widely known as a unique organisation undertaking various HR activities mainly for the benefit of voluntary activists. It has launched one more independent activity in 1997 for the overall capacity building of the co-operative sector, Co-Operative Banking Training Centre. Co-Operative Banking Training Centre, an independent and special cell, mainly for promoting quality leadership in the co-operative sector was launched on June 22, 1997. This cell, among other things, also aims at ensuring overall development of the various institutions working in the co-operative sector in Maharashtra. During the last seven years, this activity has generated considerable response. So far, more than 30 urban co-operative banks have enrolled as members of Co-Operative Banking Training Centre. The co-operative sector has to bring about changes dictated by the passage of time with an open mind. Of the various contemporary corporate concepts, the most important is Professionalism. Any leadership, recognising the winds of change, shows requisite resilience and adaptability in introducing professional values in its functioning. Co-operative organisation, simply because it is different from a private or public limited company, cannot afford not to make profits. A co-operative venture should be productive, profitable and a truly professional organisation, which needs a growth model for its development. It has to imbibe a work culture to enhance the pace of its progress. All this is certainly going to contribute to the overall strength of the organisation to evolve its own Unique Selling Proposition (USP). Today, we are left with no choice but to keep pace with the developments in science and technology. Information technology has really come handy and the need based computerisation is the order of the day. It is with this background that Co-Operative Banking Training Centre has set up the following six cells:
Each cell is managed by an expert co-ordinator with the help of the veterans in the given field. Any co-operative organisation hailing from Maharashtra and Goa can take advantage of the services of Co-Operative Banking Training Centre. Initially, we plan to confine ourselves to urban co-operative banks and then gradually extend our reach. All the member organisations of Co-Operative Banking Training Centre are entitled to seek our training and consultation services on professional basis. Serious efforts are going on to make Co-Operative Banking Training Centre a center to train the co-operative institutions and to evaluate their performance.
